Christos Michailidis
Some academic paths stay neat and predictable, his didn’t. Christos is a graduate in Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of Leeds, and has done his postgraduation work in Molecular Genetics at the University of Leicester. He has worked for 17 years on postdoctoral research across European universities, which basically means a lot of labs and a lot of experiments. Today, he is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and works with graduate students in Greece and the Czech Republic, helping them handle research that gets pretty detailed.
Polixeni Stavrou
She has basically been building her academic journey step by step, starting with English Language Studies with Linguistics at the University of Brighton and later moving on to postgraduate studies at the University of Sussex. After spending around 15 years in England working with students and going through international training experiences, she has seen just about every classroom situation you can think of. Over time, she has honed her skills in teaching complex exam topics in a way that makes it feel a lot less intimidating for students.
Antonis Mitsopoulos
This accomplished educator of ours has a passion for physics and graduated from Kapodistrian University's Physics Department before pursuing postgraduate studies in Theoretical Physics at King's College London. Returning to Kapodistrian University, he obtained a second Master's degree in Astrophysics - Astronomy - Engineering and excelled in his Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics. His academic work shows up clearly in more than 10 scientific publications in well respected journals. For the past 12 years, he has been teaching consistently and sharing his knowledge in a clear, practical way.

Frequently Asked Questions about IMAT
- What is the IMAT?
The IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test) is the official examination to get admission in English-speaking medical and dental schools of Italy.
- What knowledge do I need to have to attend classes?
High School graduation and English knowledge of B2 level (at least) is required.
- What is the structure of the IMAT exam?
The IMAT exam is a paper based test of 60 multiple questions spread across four main areas. Each question comes with five options, but only one is the right answer
It’s divided like this:
- Section 1 has 4 questions on reading skills and understanding information.
- Section 2 includes 5 questions focused on logic and problem solving.
- Section 3 is the big one with 23 questions on Biology.
- Section 4 has 15 questions on Chemistry.
- Section 5 includes 13 questions covering Physics and Mathematics.
- How long does the IMAT test last and how is it scored?
The IMAT score is valid only for the following year’s admissions.
A candidate’s total score is calculated using the following formula:
- 1.5 points for each correct answer
- -0.4 points for each incorrect answer
- 0 points for each unanswered question
The test is graded with a total score (maximum 90) , along with a score for each Module (Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics). And whoever gets the highest overall grade is admitted until the positions of the universities are filled.
- What is the process for registering for the exam?
The process is done exclusively online through Universitaly.it. During the application, in addition to enrolling in the exams, you select the medical schools of Italy that you want to apply for. You can choose to apply to as many programs as you want.
