Christos Michailidis
Christos Michailidis knows his way around DNA, labs, and a lot of research papers. From studying Biochemistry in Leeds to specializing in Molecular Genetics in Leicester, he later spent 17 years doing serious research across Europe. Now he teaches Molecular Biology as an Associate Professor in Athens. And just when you think he’s done, he is also guiding students with their graduate research in Greece and the Czech Republic.
Polixeni Stavrou
Polixeni Stavrou has spent a lot of time turning “what does this question even mean” into “oh, I get it now.” She studied in Brighton and Sussex, then spent 15 years in England teaching and building experience in standardized test preparation. With extra international training, she got even better at breaking down tricky reasoning questions so students don’t feel like they’re solving a mystery with missing clues.
Antonis Mitsopoulos
Antonis Mitsopoulos has a serious relationship with physics. He studied it at Kapodistrian University, went to King’s College London for Theoretical Physics, then came back for more studies in Astrophysics and a PhD in Mathematical Physics. With over 10 research papers published, he clearly doesn’t take breaks from science. For the past 12 years, he has been teaching physics and making complicated ideas a bit less scary for students.

Frequently Asked Questions about IMAT
- What is the IMAT?
IMAT (International Medical Admissions Test) is the test taken to enter English taught medical and dental courses in Italian universities.
- What knowledge do I need to have to attend classes?
Having a high school degree and knowing English on a B2 level is mandatory.
- What is the format of the IMAT test?
It is a written test with 60 questions divided into four parts. There will be five answers to choose from per question; however, only one is right.
-Section 1: 4 questions Reading skills and knowledge
-Section 2: 5 questions Logical reasoning and problem-solving
-Section 3: 23 questions Biology
-Section 4: 15 questions Chemistry
-Section 5: 13 questions Physics and Mathematics
- How long does the IMAT test last, and how is it scored?
A candidate’s total score is calculated using the following formula:
- 1.5 points for each correct answer
- -0.4 points for each incorrect answer
- 0 points for each unanswered question
The test is graded with a total score (maximum 90), along with a score for each Module (Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics). Whoever has the highest overall grade is admitted until the positions of the universities are filled.
- What is the process for registering for the exam?
The process is done exclusively online through Universitaly.it. During the application, in addition to enrolling in the exams, you select the medical schools of Italy that you want to apply for. You can choose to apply to as many programs as you want.
