Structure of the Bocconi Test
The Bocconi Test consists of 4 thematic areas and multiple-choice questions, which are randomized within the test. These areas are:
What it assesses | Questions | Time | Score
Mathematics | The ability to perform numerical operations quickly and accurately | 28 | 75 minutes | 50 |
Reading comprehension | The ability to process information from the text | 11
Numerical Reasoning | The ability to draw conclusions from charts, graphs, and tables | 6
Critical Thinking | The ability to determine the validity of data | 5 |
Bocconi Test Questions
Mathematics: The questions in the Mathematics section cover the following topics:
- Algebra
- Functions
- Geometry
- Trigonometry
- Sets
- Logarithms & Exponents
- Numbers
- Problem Solving
- Statistics
Reading comprehension: The student is required to carefully read various texts and answer questions for each one, having understood the meaning and information provided. The questions concern information that either exists explicitly in the passage or must be inferred from the given data.
Numerical Reasoning: The questions do not require advanced knowledge of mathematics but rather solving the problem mainly through logic and the information provided in the statement. If arithmetic operations are needed, they will be relatively simple. The greatest difficulty lies in understanding graphs or tables and distinguishing between useful and unnecessary information for solving the problem.
Critical Thinking: The questions assess the candidate’s ability to understand and interpret the meaning of the text, to draw conclusions, or to infer, based on the given information. There are 2 types of questions:
- Τrue / False
- True / False / Cannot be deducted from the text
Please note that the use of a calculator is not allowed during the examination.
Scoring & Score
The test consists of a total of 50 questions, which are scored as follows:
- Correct answer: 1 point
- Unanswered question: 0 points
- Incorrect answer: -0.2 points
Critical Thinking questions that offer only 3 answer choices have a negative score of -0.333.
Once they have their scores, students choose whether they want to submit an application or not. If they have taken the test more than once, they can choose which score to submit.

Bocconi Test Exams
The Bocconi Test is administered online from home, provided that all necessary prerequisites for the examination have been met. There is an external platform for online testing with a monitoring system that tracks and records the candidate during the examination.
The platform opens in July, and from then on, candidates can view the available dates. Usually, the platform closes the following March or April, with some days in between when it is not operational (e.g., August or Christmas holidays).
Candidates can take the test up to 3 times from July until the platform closes. However, they cannot take it twice on the same day or on two consecutive days.
Furthermore, candidates only take the test in the last year of high school, shortly before the academic year they intend to enroll.
Attention to deadlines is crucial because students must have their scores before applying to the university, and the platform closes before the application deadlines! Also, examination dates before deadlines are always popular, and there may not be available slots.
Lastly, you must book a slot at least 2 days before the desired examination date. Scores are available approximately 48 hours after the examination and are very detailed and helpful (in case of re-examination). The cost of the Bocconi Test is €60.
Bocconi Test vs SAT
The SAT is an aptitude test for undergraduate programs in the United States and selected European Business Schools, such as Bocconi. Therefore, candidates can choose between SAT and Bocconi Test for their application to Bocconi University, but they must take one of them. Moreover, the material they test is similar.
These tests have the most weight in the application, so a high score is extremely important. The SAT has specific examination dates and is accepted by many universities, while the Bocconi Test is more flexible in terms of dates and is accepted only at Bocconi.
SAT preparation at Koutsodontis Prep Center is combined with preparation for the Bocconi Test. This is because many students take both tests, allowing them to have more university choices (with SAT) and to choose the higher of the two scores to submit to Bocconi.
