IMAT Test

Admission to Medical Schools in Italy requires the IMAT test (International Medical Admissions Test). This is an aptitude test covering Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Logical Reasoning. It differs significantly from the Panhellenic exams, as all subjects are tested within 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes). The test is time-pressured and includes negative marking.

IMAT Exams & Applications

The IMAT exam is held once a year (usually in September) and students are admitted for that academic year. The results are valid only for the year of the exam. Most high school seniors prepare alongside the Panhellenic exams or intensively during the summer.

IMAT applications usually open in July, following an announcement by the Italian Ministry of Education. Students must create an account on Universitaly.it, list their preferred universities in order of priority, and submit all necessary documents. After the exam, preliminary results are released, followed by the final rankings.

The test is taken once per year at Pearson VUE test centers, and candidates receive their scores within 24 hours of taking the exam.

Undergraduate applications for universities in the UK are submitted via the UCAS platform. Students create an account, view their UCAT scores, and select degree programs.
